14 year-old killed for writing love letter

SIRAHI, May 13 : A 14 year-old boy was killed in Siraha district for allegedly helping his friend write a love letter to a girl in their school.
Body of the 8th grader Dinesh Kumar Mahato was found by villagers on Sunday, two days after he went missing. Police said judging from the state of the body, Mahato could have been fed poison and electricuted as well. "Autopsy report will reveal how exactly he died," said SP Pravin Bhattarai and added a bottle of poison was also revored from the scene.
The incident happened after Mahato wrote a letter on behalf of his friend to a girl who was in the same class in their school. Mahato´s friend has requested him to write the letter as he was a good writer.
However, after the girl complained to her family members, the boy who handed over the letter said Mahato had crafted it and her family reported started searching for him.
On Friday afternoon a group of people spotted Mahato at his house and started beating him. But the boy was left alone after a local Umashankar Giri intervened.
“The gang of youngsters was beating the boy badly. They left after I intervened. However, later in the evening he went out and did not comeback,” Giri said.
According to another witness, three young men on a motorbike had asked Mahato´s address. Mahato, who was well known in the entire village as a peaceful and hardworking boy, had just returned from a shop when the 3 attacked him.
“I was standing helpless while the men were beating the innocent boy so brutally. As I tried to protest, they forced me aside,” the witness who did not wished to be named said. “However, they backed after Umashankar intervened.”
Later when the boy did not return Mahato´s family started searching.
Police have detained the girl for investigation. However, three suspects from Portaha who are thought to be involved in the attack on Mahato, are abscounding.
