UCPN (Maoist) lawmakers Sudan Rai and Laxmi Gurung were attacked atKoteshwor in the Capital for defying the strike enforced by the Brahmin Chhetri Samaj on Thursday.
“We were beaten by the protestors,” said Rai at Singha Durbar after being rescued by police personnel from the clutches of the banda enforcers. “They beat us despite saying that we morally supporting their strike,” he added.
Rai informed that the agitators had attacked him despite saying that his party had issued a whip to attend the CA meeting. The agitators had chanted slogans against them on knowing their status as lawmakers.
Rai sustained leg injuries after the attack while the banda enforcers pulled the hair of lawmaker Gurung saying that the latter had discriminated the Brahmins and Chhetris.
