NSU, YAN give 24-hr ultimatum to govt | Top Stories | ekantipur.com

The government’s decision to provide Rs 20 million in financial aid to a UCPN (Maoist) team to climb Mount Everest has drawn widespread criticism from different quarters.
Everest expedition team includes Prakash Dahal, the son of Maoist party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
CPN-UML youth wing Youth Association Nepal (YAN) has given 24-hour ultimatum to the government to take back its decision.
YAN chief Mahesh Basnet has warned to take to streets if the government fails to withdraw its decision within 24 hours.
Likewise, Nepali Congress sister wing Nepal Students Union (NSU) has also condemned Friday’s decision.
The NSU has decided to stage demonstration against the decision in front of Tri Chandra Campus in the Capital this afternoon.
NSU Coordinator Ranjit Karna accused the government of misusing the state coffers to appease leaders in the party.
He said other struggle programmes will be declared following discussions with the sister organisations of other parties.
Not only the NC and the UML, but Maoist sister organization has also criticised the government’s decision.
The government had decided to provide Rs. 20 million as financial assistance to the Maoist team to scale the Mount Everest on Friday.
