Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun has said there was a need of a new development policy so that all countries could reap benefit equally in the changed context.
Addressing a high-level conference on 'development policy on changed context' organized in Copenhagen marking the 50th establishment day of the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA), Finance Minister Pun said a common policy could be formulated for the promotion of free market and globalization. It would also help bridge the widening gulf between the developed and developing countries, said his press coordinator, Manoj Ghartimagar.
The conference discussed agriculture, tourism, physical infrastructures, extreme poverty and unemployment among others.
The participants had stressed on inclusion, participation and co-existence for development. Similarly, they pointed out the need to include women and people from oppressed class in the development strategies.
The conference was attended by High Commissioner for Human Rights, Commissioners of the European Union, Director General of the World Bank, Development Minister of Finland, and Chief of the Action Aid among others. Economic Advisor at the Finance Ministry, Shree Ram Poudel and Joint Secretary Lal Shankar Ghimire from Nepal had also participated in the Conference, according to Press Coordinator Gharti.
