Integration possible sans package deal: Dahal | Top Stories | ekantipur.com

KATHMANDU, MAR 08 - UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that the army integration process could be concluded as per the seven-point pact even though a package deal could not be forged on the peaceprocess, constitution writing and national government formation.
“We will conclude the integration process before the forging a package deal and continue parleys for the agreement. The integration process would not be affected by other process,” said Chairman Dahal, talking toa delegation of journalists. The meeting was part of a campaign launched by the Reporters Club to put pressure upon the political partiesto conclude the peace and writing of a democratic constitution.
Saying that the political parties have been holding discussions for implementing the seven-point agreement, the Maoist chairman made itclear that the integration process would be carried out as per the seven-point pact that has mentioned the basic principle for rank determination. He added that the integration process would move forward as soon as an agreement is reached on minor technical issues. He informed about the agreement on the same with Madhesi Morcha.
Saying that his party and the Nepali Congress (NC) have reached close toa consensus, the Maoist chairman hoped that the integration process would conclude within a week.
“In the talks with Madhesi Morhca, we have forged a deal to conclude the peace and constitution within May 27. The parties have no alternative to that,” said Dahal.
