Good Luck!
What is "luck" whether it is good or bad? Is good luck a feeling of being infavor with God (or 'the' gods)? Wheredoes the good or bad luck come from? Is there such a thing as luck at all or do we ascribe it after events? LUCK tacitly assumes that there is some higher force/power (whatever)who is in charge of handing out the goodies. In a really random universe how can such a thing as "luck" be understood?
Maybe luck is only a perception. For example a tree falls on a car and crushes the roof. The "lucky" person sees it as fortunate that someone was not in the car at the time, while the "unlucky" person sees it as unfortunate that the car happened tobe parked beneath the tree that just happened to fall in that direction at that moment. Both of these views are 'true' - so is this what it means when someone says that we "make our own luck"?
Those who habitually see the advantage of events that have happened may actually have a way ofseeing more opportunity in everything and taking advantage of it. While the so-called "unlucky" person is busy lamenting losses from a storm, the so-called "lucky person" is busy turning felled trees into"firewood for sale." "Luck", (good or bad) may simply be a habitual way ofseeing things. If this is the case, then we can all conjure up a little bit more good luck for ourselves by not just"seeing" things, but instead by seeing "into" them. What else might have happened? What opportunity is hiding? What is to be learned?
The lucky person seems to look at thesame situation as other people, but they see "more". You really can learn to be lucky simply by not being so dead set on a single outcome and by keeping in mind that whether any given thing was a piece of good luck or a piece of bad luck is not known right away. If you miss a plane because you got stuck in traffic it is bad luck. If the plane later crashes, this turns out to have been good luck. Look for luck tomorrow and seewhat happens. It will be interesting to do a little experiment right here and see if anybody can actually increase their good luck.
