KATHMANDU: Actress and activist Joanna Lumley has arrived in Nepal on Monday as the Vice-Patron of the Gurkha Welfare Trust British Embassy in Kathmandu confirmed.
During her stay in Nepal, the 65-year-old star British actress will be heading to the country's western hills to open a school built under the supervision of the British-based Gurkha Welfare Trust.
The Gurkha Welfare Trust, a charity funded largely by public subscription in the UK, helps retired British Gurkhas, their families and communities.
The Trust’s work, also embraces Individual Aid, Community Aid and Medical Support and it made Lumley to make a Nepal trip.
Lumley is best known for her roles in British television series Absolutely Fabulous .
She earns the adoration of the Gurkhas after having led a successful campaign for Gurkhas' rights and their families to be allowed to settle in Britain.
