BAJURA: Bizarre it may sound but a house in Bishal bazaar of Chhatara VDC in Bajura is home to eighteen families that have been living there for three generations.
One of the tenants, Kamala BK, said they are having difficulty living in thehouse as it is in dilapidated condition and may collapse anytime.
BK said 67 persons from 18 families have been living in the house for three generations. She bemoans that they were compelled to live in the same house due to their inability to buy house of their own.
Brawls and skirmishes have become an everyday phenomena at the house. Each family has more than three members. Rupa BK (60) said theywere having a tough time confining themselves to a single room.
Umesh Jha, chief of Drinking Water and Sanitation Sub Division Bajura, said he was unaware of about the conditions in which the people were living. “This is the first time I have ever seen such a large number of families living in the same house,” said Jha.
Bharat Singh, a staffer at Bajura District Development Committee Bajura, said it was first time he had seen large number of families being adjusted in a single house. “If they were to live separately, they would make a village,” added Singh.
