KATHMANDU: May Day, aka, International Workers' Day is being celebrated today in many countries in the honour of labour.
In Nepal also, the 123rd International Worker’s day is being observed by organising different programmes by working people and their labour unions.
May Day is being celebrated in Nepal since 1963.
Trade unions such as All Nepal Trade Union Federation (ANTUF), Nepal Trade Union Congress-Independent (NTUC-I) and General Federation of Nepalese Trade Unions (GEFONT) and other labour unions affiliated to various political parties are all set to commemorate the 1886 HaymarketMassacre in Chicago.
The government has declared a public holiday for the day to celebrate the May 1.
